Anyone still missing the magazine "Kitchen Gardener" ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there still mourning the demise of Tauton's "Kitchen Gardener"? I've tried one new flower gardening magazine, one herb magazine, renewed a different magazine after a year's lapse, and still I feel this hole where this great magazine use to be. Has anyone found a good substitute?

I just found this site. (thanks for telling me about it Bren...NOT! :o) ) I started buying that magazine when it first came out but couldn't always afford it and definitely not the lump sum subscription back then. It was fabulous...the best food growing magazine I had ever seen and always fascinating. I wondered why I haven't been able to find it!! Rats!!!

Hey, Alison!! Long time no see. I'm sooo soorrry! Got any back issues you want to get rid off? (Yeah, right!)

Yes, I am still bummed out about it. I keep mine in a basket in the bathroom for handy reading material (and re-reading!!) especially this time of year when I can't get into the garden yet.

I haven't found anything I like as well in the magazine department. I do like a lot of GardenWeb. Soil & Compost forum is my favourite, but I also hit Organic Gardening, Vegetable Gardening, Edible Landscaping, & Container Gardening regularly.

Nice try Bren!! LOL Of Kitchen Garden I only have 13 copies..maybe if I had bought a 14th issue they wouldn't have folded , 13 being bad luck and all. Man I liked it!! (still fuming that its gone) Thanks for the alternatives Julie.

So it's all YOUR fault, Alison!! (Could I just borrow your back issues? I promise to return them!) :o)

I LOVED that mag! I couldn't afford a subscription, I used to drop lots of hints, I'd read it at the library occasionaly I'd treat myself to on off the stand. I'm sorry its gone :^(
