What is it that only Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Western Samoa have in common?

BTW, unless you get it this afternoon, you'll have to wait until Saturday or Sunday for the answer. I'm traveling tonight for an Easter conference. A blessed weekend for all.

Hmmm! I am not aware of any 'big bird', extinct or otherwise in Western Samoa.

The extinct ostrich-like bird in NZ was the moa

Charles, you were getting warm, but the question was what do ONLY these countries have in common. Here's a little help. Check the stars.

OK, I get it, Southern Cross on the flag...!!!

Of course when I refer to The Southern Cross I am meaning the actual heavenly constellation, not the one on the flag flying at the Hazard County courthouse!

-- john hill (john@cnd.co.nz), April 01, 2002.

Is there really a Hazard Country? My little brothers loved that show when they were kids!!

I really dont know Melissa but I always believe everything I see on TV!

-- john hill (john@cnd.co.nz), April 01, 2002.

Ha, Ha! Yes, so do I, if it is on TV it must be true...

... Or published in the papers.

John, you are correct. All these countries have the Southern Cross constellation in their flag. You can't see it from the Northern Hemisphere, but it's one of the most beautiful and easily recognized constellations, in my narrow view.
