My father in -law has had total knee replacement in both knees . He has a clicking sensation or noise in the knees now . Is this common ? I would appreciate any feedback on this scenario.

The prosthetic components are hard and there may be clicking. The soft tissues move across the components as the knee bends and there may be popping. If this is not associated with symptoms it is not a problem. If it is associated with pain or instability it should be brought to the surgeons' attention.

I also had a total knee replacement and now am experiencing the same popping problem, but without pain. How long can I expect this to go on?
