Sweating Concrete Garage Floor - How to Stop???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Good morning everyone! It's a beatuiful day here and I'm getting ready to get out in it and get some things done. First, though, I wanted to ask this quesion.

We have a concrete floor in our garage that sweats really bad when the weather is wet or humid. I actually have to take a squeegee and push all the water out the door when this happens. Does anyone know what causes this and/or how I can prevent it? Is there a coating I can put on the floor to help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

My shop has a concrete floor and it does this when the floor is cold and the humidity suddenly goes real high and the air gets warmer. The humidity in the warm air condenses on the cold concrete. The only solution I have found is warm up the shop till the concrete gets above the dew point. Really the pits isn't it.

either warm of the concrete (as stated) or increase the air circulation ALOT

Thanks for the help! Yeah David, it's pretty suckie at times. I've got a little heater I can use to heat the floor and a couple exhaust fans I can use for air circulation - I'll give both a try and see which works best.

or you can cool the area with air conditioning to bring the room temp down to the temp of the concrete
