I won't sell you one of my goats

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Last Sunday my husband had company and was outside with the critters. A man pulled up in a pick up and ask my husband about buying a goat and like the good man he is he said, "you'll have to talk to my wife". The man said I want to buy a goat and I said what do you want and he said a baby goat for my grandbaby.I said well I have some little bucks that I can wether, he said whats a wether and I told him. He got kinda weird, felt of his privates and said no I don't want you to do that to him, and I said I won't sell you a inact buck knowing it's for a child. He said I just want a little goat for my grandbaby and I told him that by fall a little buck would be breeding age, stink and could very well be aggressive. He got rude at this point and said well are you going to sell me a !%&#X goat and I said no and ask him to leave.

My husband and the couple that were visiting us were inside the house listening, getting their entertainment for the week. I walked back in muttering someone should have wethered that guy as a kid. I got pretty aggravated but it was a good laugh for us all.

Moral of story, don't sell your goat to strangers that grap themselve in front of people.

Hope all is having a good day ,

Oh dear! Somehow I see a good ole AR "redneck" joke coming out of this experience Hey, wonder if it was the same guy in Yellville I took my taxes to, I was so offended, he was telling this really dumb redneck joke about a gernade, then he stand up, demonstrates how the guy held the pin to the gernade and then placed the gernade between his legs, this guy tapped his private area. Hmmmmmm

I work in a pet store. A customer was asking a question about some fish and had his hand up his shirt, playing with his nipple during the whole conversation. Funny thing was, I don't think he wasn't being lewd...I don't even think he was aware he was doing it (little simple I think) Still, strange.

Ooops, sorry, I guess that isn't something I should really mention here. Sorry.

seems like some people just don't know what to do with thier hands when they're talking.I was once talking to one of my daughters boyfriends and he pulls up his shirttail and starts playing with his bellybutton!YUUUUUUCK.By the way I'm in AR too.

ACK...I just had a mental picture of this guy with teats instead...

I don't think the guy was necessaruly a pervert. Men are really funny about animals being castrated, they kind of take it personally, it really makes them uncomfortable. Part of the reason I stopped castrating our kids was that I could not get any help from the men here!!

rebekah-who needs a man's help? they are for some reason very squeamish about it, so i just do it myself when they are less than a month old, still small enough to handle by myself at that age. sherry, i wouldn't have sold to him either. person like that has no business with a goat. have a great day, all.

I use the knife when castrating, so having two people is best. If I banded, I could do it alone. What I was saying is, the guy became uncomfortable when Sherry started talking about castrating, and (maybe subconciously) felt insecure and somewhat threatened himself, and probably wanted to make sure he was still 'all there'! Again, he was probably not even aware of this. Had Sherry tried to sell him a kid that was already a wether, it wouldn't have bothered the guy as much. When you think about it this way, it's not surprising that the guy felt threatened and became hostile- not that that was an excuse for losing his temper and getting rude.
