Rebel 2000 Successor

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Does anyone know if Canon is planning to replace the Rebel 2000 with a newer, upgraded model anytime soon or are they going to stick with the 2000 for another year or two or three? Have they gone about as far as they can go with the Rebel line--at that price point anyway--or will they keep getting better and more sophisticated?

The Japanese equivalent of the Rebel 2000, the EOS Kiss III, has been lightly updated to the EOS Kiss IIIL.

Not a huge difference - mainly cosmetics. The most interesting addition is a backlit topdeck LCD.

Sigh. Remove the spurious space in the URL above to get it to work. Also, my point was that Canon Japan have updated the camera but there's no word on whether this model will be available outside Japan anytime soon.
