Has any one build their own spinning wheel from plans? I fould a web site to make a No Lathe Ashford Spinning Wheel. My son has lots of tools and is good with wood. Need a tried and true tested set of plans. I want the Ashford Traditional Wheel. Thanks for any information.

I recently got my first spinning wheel and I absolutely love it! There are several books that give good instructions for building wheels. I believe the title of a good one is Looms and Wheels by David Bryant. My hubby is a wonderful woodworker(hand carves gun stocks and such) and I'm hoping he will custom make me a wheel. You might want to check into buying a wheel. I got mine for $125 from a place called Babes fiber garden(put it in a browser and it should pop right up). It is made from furniture grade pvc. I had an experienced spinner use it and she said she liked it better than her high dollar wooden wheel. Considering the time that would be involved in making a wheel I just couldn't justify it when I could buy one so cheaply(I received great service from Babe's too).
