Craft Ideas, what do you think will be hot this year?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hello All! I am tired of looking at craft site after craft site only to find the same ole things...anyone else? I am wondering if anyone has some really unique ideas, or suggestions? What do you think will be a new hot trend along the lines of country crafts this year?

I'm a weaver and have sold my goods at several craft fairs/farm markets/festivals in the past few years and have definitely been noticing a trend. Here in Central Wisc. people seem to be buying more practical useful items like: hand-knit mittens, hats, scarves, handwoven rugs, kitchen towells, etc. Seems like they're all looking at and passing by the cutsie little knick-knack type of things and going for something they can use. The other things that seem to sell well are things you can actually use in your garden: rain gauges, sprinklers, knee pads & tool tote-boxes. Hope this helps.

I know that I will pass over the knick-knack dust collectors any day for a well-made item I can use. Can you tell I hate to dust:)

Kathy, Come on over to the COOKING AND CRAFTS FORUM. This is an offshoot of this forum and is VERY active! Besides all the great cooking and crafting ideas, we also have a daily crafting tip of the day, cooking hint of the day, recipe of the day and every month there is a crafting website of the month and cooking website of the month. Right now there is also an Easter Recipe of the Day. It is loaded with all kinds of websites, too! We would love to have you visit and appreciate your input!

The rustic, patriotic look is still selling well also.

Hello,

I came up with this idea that is practical and funny, I think. Make a siloutte of a man with wood have him holding out a fishing pole (dowel rod) and with a string and a hook. Hang your fly paper from this with a sign that says: "Tennessee Fly Fish'n"

If you make it, I will buy one.

Anything with flags seems to be selling.

I can tell you what I would be tempted to buy. A yard nativity set. Sort of a sillouette kind of thing. In winter blues and purples. You know the manger baby Jesus sort of thing. After the New York disaster I have a feeling articles of a religious christian nature would appeal to the public. and also like another person sa

I myself also like useful things like herbal vinegars, plants, and food items.
