wedding reception decorations : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

I am interested in hearing ideas for wedding reception decorating ideas that are elegant yet reasonably priced. I would like to incorporate oil chimney lamps that I already have. Colors are indigo, silver, white and spring florals.

This isn't the cheapest route, but I used silk flowers for my wedding. I decorated the church myself, too, to save money. All the flowers can be gifts to those who were in the wedding, and can be reused at your house. The only thing I kep intact was my bouquet...which was silk, too.

I decorated the pews with silke vines and put flowers on them, and made my own ribbons and bows from bulk spools. Those can also be reused on gifts.

Good luck & congratulations

Rhonda- A friend of mine had a huge wedding in a two story church that had sweeping stair cases on either side of the room and a balcohny upstairs. She used bolts of tule ( the gauze type material used under wedding or prom dresses) in her colors (indigo, purple, and white) and draped the stair railing and the balchony railing. She also made bows and added flowers to it for the end of the pews and on the alter. Down the railings she added the soft white christmas lights to give it a more romantic feel. This is a very inexpensive way to decorate any size area. And afterwards you can use the material to make a romantic mesquito net for the marital bed and have a momento of your wedding day. You could also use a wide silver, wired ribbon to loop through with the tule. I hope this has given you some ideas.
