Unemployment

I am moving 150 miles away from my current home and have already left my job. I do not have another job where I am moving. Does anyone know if I might be eligible for unemployment compensation until I find another job?

Did you leave your job or were you laid off? That often makes a difference.

I quit my job because I am moving so far away - no choice.

Generally if you quit you are not eligible. If you quit because working conditions are unsafe or you are asked to do work that is illegal then an investigation is done and you may be eligible. We had a friend recently who went through this same thing, he eventually was found to be eligible but it took 4 months for all of the paperwork and investigations.

A few years ago my wife had to quite her job to follow me in my job change and she was eligible for unemployment. The spouse is eligible but the person who quit for the purpose of relocation isn't.
