We can sell you 10 root cuttings for $10.00.

I think it would be better to wait till the end of April, but that's up to you.

E-mail me if you would like the address to send your order to.

Sherry, we've got lots of comfrey next to our garden - when my daughter & I first started gardening, it was clay, so we got lots of old, moldy hay to put on it to build it up (now it is great soil - took about 5-6 years of hay). There must have been some comfrey in the hay, because it started coming up all over! We pull it out in the main section, but leave it along the one side. The bees LOVE it - purple blossoms in the summer & fall.

I'd love to send you some roots in the mail (when the ground thaws enough to dig) free - or if you find some sasafrass roots, you could send me some in exchange.

Let me know if this is okay, and then REMIND ME about the middle of April!!!!

Bonnie that is a generous offer.

Rick, I didn't mean to step on your toes or anything - when I first saw this post, there were no answers there yet, so I posted. We have so much, and as you know, when you pull or dig, the roots just seem to spread!

I sure didn't mean to offend you in any way....

Bonnie, I tried to find something to say to commend you, that couldn't be taken as a sarcastic comment. I am always thrilled to get something for close to free. Today I found a nice paring knife at the park.

We started a small comfrey patch, thanks to a shippment from Bruce Burdge ( a countryside advertiser), and it took over too.

We gave some away to people at work, and neighbors, and then started shipping it out, to forum participants.

Peace.

I'll take you up on that trade Bonnie. Rick I appreciate your response. I have a friend that is also looking for comfrey and I'll give her your name.

Does anyone know how many different kinds of comfrey there are. I've heard of a Russian comfrey. Are there others?

-- Darren (df1@infi.net), March 22, 2002.

Russian comfrey is the kind we have. I'm not positive, but I think it is it's long name.
