We had a blizzard like day on Wednesday here in Rensselaer County. About 5-6 inches of heavy wet snow fell in the afternoon. The schools closed early, no Scout meetings at night. Played phone tag with Scout parents and church members. Our bible study was cancelled because of the weather. This morning, I see some of it has melted and things has settled down a bit.

Expecting freezing cold and strong winds here in Michigan. When exactly does the "out like a lamb" part begin??

Snow yesterday , snow today and teens tomorrow !!!!! Where is spring ???? Well it cant be far .Can it ?

-- Patty {NY State} (fodfarms@hotmail.com), March 21, 2002.

WE got about a half an inch of snow over night and the wind is bad today. It appears to be coming right from the north-west right now and it's cold! Brrrr! As for Spring, remember in Wisconsin, it sometimes shows up in May! I vividly remember a blizzard on this date some 30 years ago that shut down Green Bay!

Ugh! We got 8" of snow a few days ago and another foot yesterday. Ours doesn't melt. We've had snow ever since December. I have some serious cabin fever!!!! I love Vermont ;-)

Woke up to 5" of new snow (the "poor man's fertilizer") here on the coast of Maine. But it's a beautiful sunny day and already 40*...expected to reach 48*, so most of this snow will disappear today. Another round of wet snow expected tonight, then a cold snap for a day or so...then back up to 45*!! Very typical spring weather!

-- Marcia (HrMr@webtv.net), March 21, 2002.

Yeah, well I've got four feet on the level and nine foot drifts, when the 25-kt wind started moving things all over the pasture. Still it's not as bad as Wyoming weather. But, I can't find five lambs that were born last week and two of my border collies are also missing.

-- al (yr2012@hotmail.com), March 21, 2002.

Wow!!! And I was always told that Maine weather was supposed to be the worst! Where do you live, al???

-- Marcia (HrMr@webtv.net), March 21, 2002.

It's coming through North Florida right now and I'm praying for rain! So far all I've gotten out of it is a face full of windblown sand.

.......Alan.

Ha! Figures....we just turned off the pilot to the gas heater last night. The thing was acting strange and instead of having it looked at this late in the season we will wait until we need to turn it on again in the fall.

Yesterday and most of the day before, we enjoyed a much needed soaking rain.

I hope the folks in Florida get some rain soon too.

Well, that winter blast hit us hard here yesterday with 5-7 inches of snow and high winds. Temps in the low teens at night and mid 20's during the day. We're located in the inland NW, just outside of Spokane, WA. Weatherman said spring will arrive over the weekend just in time for the farm expo.

-- Joy Parkes (jparkes@spfarm.com), March 21, 2002.

Of course there's going to be a freezing cold front coming through, I have goats ready to kid!

-- Charleen in WNY (harperhillfarm@yahoo.com), March 21, 2002.

We got 7 inches of snow overnight. It's almost 50 degrees today.

-- Murray in ME (lkdmfarm@megalink.net), March 21, 2002.

Marcia: Up the road from Seeley Lake, MT, at the Western doorstep of the Rockies (5500-ft elev). Used ta live in Wyoming at 9000-ft elev just outside NE entrance of Yellowstone.

Joy: Probably go to Spokane for the Expo this weekend, if MT DOT will bother to plow the roads.

We never had this much problem in WY. The DOT there always plowed, even on weekends and holidays. Something about MT just being cheap.

They say that misery loves company, but hearing that you all have so much snow is not making me feel any better at all! If your spring is so far away, mine is just that much farther. It has been snowing here nonstop. Snowplow just went about an hour ago, and you can't tell he's been by. All the grass that was showing - gone. The roads that were down to gravel - white. The nest spruce that was uncovered - gone. And I have an absolutley miserable cold to boot. The last couple of days have seen several bad accidents on the highway just south of town. I'm really tired of winter. Out like a lamb? Seems to be a very feisty lamb!

What's snow? 75-80 degrees here in the southwestern desert this week.

-- Joe (CactusJoe001@AOL.com), March 21, 2002.

The West is gonna warm up next week and the East is gonna get a real blast....http://grads.iges.org/pix/temp1.html

Of course up North is having cold weather. We have a grandchild taken into the hospital in SC and came on down to help out with the family. Left a barn full of does ready to kid. Hope the neighbors are doing OK. The weather is beautiful here today...grandchild coming from the hospital tonight. Praise the Lord !!...and thinking of the snow coming through at home. The house has no heat because we heatwith wood and no fire on by now Hope all the money for insultaion keeps the house and pipes from freezing...Think we will make that move to SC very soon. Spring IS on it's way....I hope !!

Of course its getting colder in the northeast, because we are warming up in Southern Alaska! Winter weather here seems to be the opposite of theirs. Spring isn't until May. Meanwhile, my gardeners yearnings to get out and dig are sure with you all.

In NC, we have had up and down weather. Last week I went from SC to NY and it was warmer in NY than SC! This week has been rainy, but today hit 70s easy. Cant wait till this 20 degree stuff rolls in. All the pears and some of the peaches are in bloom, the tulip poplars and red buds are all sprouting.

-- Kevin in NC (Vantravlrs@aol.com), March 21, 2002.

There's a stinkin artic blast at my house right now. Wind won't quit. Down into the teens tonight. I started a fire this morning, and then let it go out because it was supposed to be up to 50 and I don't have much wood left. I just started it again this evening. Wouldn't be so bad without this WIND! Tomorrow cold, then warming back up. I want wind from the south, not north!

Al, so sorry to hear about the Border Collies and lambs. Have they ever been missing before? My weather ain't so bad compared to up there.

-- Cindy in KY (solidrockranch@msn.com), March 21, 2002.

We are in central Maine and woke up to a foot of new snow with more suppose to be on the way tonight. It was BEAUTIFUL this morning. Of course last year at this time I had 5 feet of the stuff in my backyard and I couldn't wait until it was gone.

-- Mary R. (cntryfolk@ime.net), March 21, 2002.
