have two installs one for sql7 another for sql2000 is there a way to convert the database without converting the whole install of sql7

I would use SQL Server 2000's DTS (this appears as Import and Export Data when you click on Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server). This will allow you to copy data and objects from the SQL Server 7 server to the SQL Server 2000 server.
