Breed of Chicken---"Millie Fleur"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hello all! I love this place! I have another question....Does anyone know where I can get info on a breed of chicken called "Millie Fleur", or it could be "Millie Flevr" (I cannot make out the handwriting!) Anyhoo...someone gave us three of these spectacular looking critters today and I would like to find out as much as I can about them! One thing I know for sure is that their eggs are very small!!! Once again I thank you all in advance for your suggestions/expert advise! God Bless and I look forward to hearing from y'all soon!

www.feathersite.com

This site has pictures of all the different chicken breeds as well as links to sites specific to each breed.

We have mille fleurs and they are very pretty. Ours are very loud though!

Mille Fleur is a color variety; many breeds come in this color. You are probably thinking of Mille Fleur d'Uccle; This is the millefleur bantam with the feathered feet. Millefluer is french for thousand flowers; it is also a type of glass, frequently used in paper weights.

I had four of those birds and just loved them. The roosters were mild tempered and the hen was very sweet. I eventually sold the roosters and the hen died at about 2 years old. The only chicken I've lost due to disease in the 4 years that I've had chickens. Never did figure out what it was that got her - treated her for everything I knew.

Hey I just wanted to agree with Tracey in that the feathersite is the BEST place to find info on chickens and other poultry! PS I love Milles too!
