BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Stephanie Martineau (for USOF Board Representative)

My first orienteering experience was in 1984. Even though I wasn't a runner I loved the sport from the beginning. Due to several interstate moves, husband Phil and I have been members of four different clubs. We've attended a variety of A meets, and through our children we've been involved with the junior program and the ski-O program.

Phil and I became co-presidents of MNOC in 1996. While he focused on keeping the club program working, my efforts were directed to VWC '97. I continued as president through 2001, during which time the club established a JROTC program, renewed our mapping efforts, and began an annual training meet. Most recently I spearheaded an effort that raised funds to partially pay the expenses of an MNOC member to participate the world Ski-O championships.

As Heartland board rep my first goal is to provide timely communication about USOF issues. I will solicit input from the clubs to take to the USOF board meetings and report back about board actions. It will also be a priority to get to know each of the Heartland clubs and find out what problems we can work on together.

Long range I hope that orienteering can attract young adults and families so that our sport gains the critical mass and public recognition that will sustain it. To those ends I plan to help with club development in the region, work on promotion with USOF, and lay some groundwork for future fund raising.

I look forward to taking on the responsibility of Heartland representative and hope that Heartland members will contact me frequently to discuss their concerns.

Gale Teschendorf (for Alternate)

No biographical information has been provided. Gale is the current Heartland Region Representative.
