HAS EVERYONE RECEIVED THEIR QUILT SWAPS?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Howdy! I have been checking your name off of a list when I hear that you have received your squares. I was wondering if they all made it to your mailboxes OK? If you could just e-mail me or let me know on here I would appreciate knowing that everyone got their's. If it was regular parcel post it should be there any day now. I am just a tad of a worry wart:~)!!!

I am still deciding what to make with mine. My daughter laid her squares all out and is making a lap quilt. My daughter's birthday is next week and she wanted some new dresses. That will come first and then I will start on the squares. What a nice sewing break it will be for gardening season!!!

Oh...the flannel swap sounds fun for fall. Whoever does it can count me in when the time comes. If Terri gets busy I don't mind doing it again too...Just want to get in on the fun one way or the other!

Hi Nan, I haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm sure that's because I was late to begin with. I'll let you know as soon as they come in. Stace

I got mine today-actually I got them saturday but they didn't put them in my box, left a pick up notice so I had to wait until today to get them. Thanks everyone!! It was fun to see names from all over. Now if you all can tell me what you used to write on your squares so I can use it the next time. My fabric pen just seemed to want to blob and it was supposed to be a fine tip.

I got mine last week also.

Mine came on Friday. I think my sister is going to come stay with us for a while-she's applied for a job here and will probably be here until she gets all setteled with that, so I thought Of making the squares into a twin quilt for the guest room bed where she will be. When I was clearing our my sewing room I found some 6 inch blocks she had given me so I'm going to add those too.

I cut some 6 inch muslin blocks and machine appliqued hearts on them I laid them out alternating a signature block and a hearT block-It looks really nice! I'm very pleased. Thats as far as I got-I'm kind of making it up as I go!

Kelly, that sounds darling! I might just applique a few in between too. That is a great idea! I really like that heart in hand thing to applique. I might try that one. I am sooooo glad that you all seem to be getting them ok. I have everyone but 7 accounted for and one was to Canada and had to go through customs. So....we are doing great I think! I betcha that we will hear from the other few soon! Yes, I agree with Amelia Kay. Let's all stay in touch and do this again! I have LOTS of flannel! I have made my hubby a shirt every year for his birthday since we were married in addition to his other gifts. Lots from making pjs for my daughter too!

I got mine yesterday! Can't wait to get started.

-- Sherry (tlnifty@ecenet.com), March 19, 2002.

ooooh NAN! You just gave me a great idea! I think I'm going to do a border but I wanted squares on the corners, I really didn't want to do 6-inch squares there becuase I have two rows going-I'll make big blocks and do the Heart AND HANDS on those-my smaller 6" blocks just have the hearts. Great!!!!

-- Kelly (homearts2002@yahoo.com), March 19, 2002.

Kelly, that does sound cute!

-- Nan (davidl41@ipa.net), March 19, 2002.

The Canadian received her squares this week, even coming through customs I think I got mine about the same time as others! What a lovely selection. I have sewn most of mine up, I think I had 72 squares, so put 7 across and 10 down. Have only sewn the across ones. Thought I would put a band of black between the rows then I don't have to worry too much about meeting the squares together.

I thought it was a lovely idea to put your date of birth on the squares as well as you name, city & state. Ola are you 84? Wow and still quillting. Your square will have prominant place in the centre of my quilt.

I too would love to join the flannel swop in the fall.
