#1 I want to reseed my cow pasture last year we seeded it with a mix but that did not turn out so good (it Grew but not enuff to call in grass)and the cows just ate it to the grownd. I am looking for grass that grows real quick because the cows are all was on pasture ? #2 if the cows are still on pasture will the grass still grow . thanks in advance Vince

You must take the cows off the pasture you are seeding,until the grass is established.Otherwise,they will pull the seedling grass up by the roots and it will not come back. Type of grass depends on where you are located.We are in central Tx and coastal,Tifton 85,jigs,etc. do well around here.Bahia is a seed,and does well in our area.Most people don't use it,as it is 'stemmy'and cows aren't crazy about it.

Depends on where you live. I live in Kentucky and find that fescue is a good durable grass. They have different types of fescue depending on where you live.

Think about dividing your pasture for rotational grazing. Even if you only have one acre, dividing it will benefit the pasture and the cows. You would move the cows out of the pasture when the gras is approx 4-6 inches tall. By that time the other pasture has grown sufficiently. Don't let the pasture get too tall. I found that my cows wouldn't eat if the grass got too high.
