Wanderin around with Lil Dumplin. [Preachin]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Those raskels came out of the fence-row---jumped the road and were gone in a flash. In their little "venture" of crossin the road-Lil Dumplin started countin'm. "Eight" she said---"Whoa!! Look on the other side of the road"! Another "flock" of those ornery critters headin the other way. Eighteen was the total and every one of'm were as purty as a sunset-unless you had a field of corn and they were in it! I'm talkin about deer. Since we don't like deer meat they are safe with me. I don't know about next fall tho. After they destroyed some of my Norway Spruce trees--the truce is probably over.

We moseyed on down the road a mite, drivin past a "hollow" in the ground my pappy told me about almost 40 years ago. Back up the road catty-cornered about 1/2 mile was an "opening" in the ground. The farmer who lived there put some baby pigs in that "openin" to grow'm up. The entrance hole was fairly small but nobody seemed to notice. After the pigs turned into HOGS-he figgered he'd butcher a couple and "ship" the rest to the packin house in ST. Louis, Mo. Guess what? They couldn't get through the openin. They had to butcher'm all in the hole, quarter'm and move'm out that way.

Down the road another 1/4 mile we saw an ugly "thing" in a fenced in pasture. High fence, woven wire with 4 strands of barbed wire on top. We parked in the church parkin log and whistled for this "thing". He came a runnin as fast as those spindly legs would carry'm. It was a sizable brown and white Llama! After Lil Dumplin a takin his'n picture about a kazillion times, more or less, he would stick his head over the wire and wanted pettin. I did.

Noticed many other things today [that I'd forgotten about] of where folks had lived, old cemetarys, churchs, stores and places ole jeep and I had roamed around at as kids. We even "metal detected" some before gettin plumb tuckered out and comin home. All in all it was a good day rememberin all those folks we knew and seein where they are burried until the "Trump of God". Those graves of the saved, will burst open with a fury, when Jesus Christ calls them forth. This is much much closer than most folks believe. I've even heard of some Christians who just don't believe in it or think it's thousands of years in the future. The Word says to keep our wicks trimmed and our eye on the Eastern sky. Jesus Christ will appear there, not setting foot on the earth, and will call us to Him. Are you ready? old hoot gibson. Matt.24:44

You know I have thought of the same thing when I was out wandering, and would come across an old grave. I can't wait to see it happen, and you are right Hoot, it's even at the door.
