hi just tell me if there is any free download software avalable for the purpose of grabbing the selected area from vcd

you can use vcd clipper to grapping the sellected area from vcd. It is a freeware. It is available simtel.net. the exact site address is

You can also use "TMPGenc" to do.

A few softwares you can use: VCDGear 3.0 (for converting dat files) MPEGTool (for extracting part of a dat file) TMPGEnc (for editing MPEG files)
