I have wood floors in my home? Today my dog wet twice on them (she couldn't get out). I wiped it up but it smells like urine. What is the best way to clean my wood floor?

Murphey oil soap and a wet mop works, don't leave it wet anymore that necessary.

Scrubbing brush. Some sort of detergent in water to get rid of what it can. Mop up with a dry rag then let dry. Then vinegar (which will react with the urine and somewhat neutralise it) in water. Mop up with a dry rag then let dry. Then cloudy ammonia (which is ammonia solution with soap in it) - ammonia is chemically related to urea, but simpler, smaller, slipperier molecules and can displace some of the urea. Mop up with a dry rag then let dry. Then a vinegar rinse again, but this time leave it all to soak in then dry.

While it sounds like a lot of muss and fuss it's really only a few minutes - just that it's spread over several hours, but on the "when you get to it" principal.

Vinegar and baking soda, it bubbles up from the cracks any urine that might have seeped down between boards. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe up. If necessary I will then use Murphy's oil soap and warm water to mop up the residuals.

It is in the cracks that the smell will still exsist. There is a product sold at pet stores called Nature's Miricle. It's a natural enzyme that "eats" the urine so it will definitely be gone in a few days.

Here is a homemade wood cleaner that you might try...

2 T. ammonia 1 c. mineral oil 5 T. turpentine 1/2 c. vegetable oil

mix and use 1 cup to 1 quart warm water. rub on and wipe dry.
