In Minnesota, at least 50' if it's cased more than 50' into a confining layer - otherwise 100 feet for livestock. That's legally, just took it off my pesticide training materials.--->Paul

The depth equates to filtering--20'..bad, 200'..very good. But really I think a phone call to the county health dept. will get you the guide lines to answer your question.
