How to I get a manual for the Canon EOS Rebel XS?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel XS. There wasn't a owner's manual. Where can I get one? I was told there was a website that I could print a copy. Please provide me with it.

Not many people are willing to scan a manual and place it on a website (stealing copyrighted material can be serious--remember the example the feds made of the University of Oregon student and his video clips & software). However, you may be able to buy one from Canon or Manualrus:

http://www.usa.canon.com/contacts/manuals.html

Surely there is Magic Lantern book for your camera or close kin (they all work the same).

Seriously, if you could convince Canon to give me written permission, I could arrange for a REBEL XS manual to be served from EOSDOC.

But after reading the 1999 news link here, I wonder if we should worry about documentation sites e.g. Canon FD located outside of the USA.

I've written a manual for the predecessor of the Rebel XS, the Rebel S II. There are certain similarities between the two products if you don't want to buy a used one from somewhere, but be aware that many specifics will be different.

A volunteer manual for the EOS 500 = REBEL XS = EOS KISS is now being drafted at EOSDOC
