Once mixed with water how long can you store the corid? I'm getting tired of remixing and throwing away the leftover.

I've never used Corid (Sulmet instead)but I'm assuming you're administering this in the goat's water? Unless this product states otherwise, I'm much more in favor of giving these kind of meds via a drench. That way you make sure the full dosage is getting into them and there is no leftover, no waste. I have mini goats so I just give this to them by a syringe/dropper, usually dividing the daily dose into two or three applications. It's worked fine for me.

I mix up the drench and keep it in the fridge to give orally. Now if you are talking mixing it into their water buckets than yes you have to mix a new batch every day. Be very careful overdoing the use of Corid. It works really well dosed correctly for goats, but if you give it for extended periods of time you can harm the goats. Corid (amprolioum) is an antagonist for thiamin. The cocci lifecycle needs thiamin to reproduce into a harmful lifecycle. Corid blocks this absorption, and the goats need Thiamin for good rumen function.

I also like using sulfa's, they are much broader spectrum and though we may be thinking we are using it for cocci contol, it also treats bacterial diarrhea, pnemonia etc. So, if we missdiagnosed the reason we wanted to use it, say because of diarrhea, using a sulfa is a better guessing tool :) Vicki

shari........the bag of powder says discard five days after mixing. That is what I do. You can get a liquid from the Vet that had a shelf life of several years and does not need to be refrigerated. That is what I use now.
