Fortunatly this tak has become quite common and not difficult to accomplish. I am not going to explain everthing here because the procedure has already been explained many times, as I have found by searching on yahoo. I suggest that you read the following guides:

http://doom9.org/vobsub.htm http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/808 http://vobsub.edensrising.com/links.html

The software you need to actually apply subtitles to the video stream is the following:

VOBSUB filter for VirtualDub (subtitle grabber) http://www.divx-digest.com/software/vobsub.html http://vobsub.edensrising.com/

Virtual Dub video software http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html http://www.virtualdub.org/

I have successfully used vobsub 1.46 and 2.0x to grab subtitles from Jet Li movies, Jackie Chan movies and some other movies on DVD to apply the subtitles to the output video stream (a new file).
