n.h.loans and direct legal collections shortfall debt

help iam being asked to pay a shortfall debt of £10,110.the house was sold in oct 93,and i was contacted in october 95,iwas unemployed at the time and they said they would not take me to court at that time.i have now recived a letter in feb 2002 from dlc threatening to take me to court for the ammount owed.i phoned and asked about the 6 year rule,but was told it diddnt apply because they contacted me in 95.they also said the mig was nothing to do with me as it was a nhl policy.what do i do now?

i have found a copy of my mortgage conditions .1988 edition.and i cant find a clause that says any shortfall would become a speciality debt.does this help me?i can e mail a copy to anybody who thinks it may help them.
