Attention Everyone! : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I am going to be a little busy today, so I just wanted to make you all aware that someone is posting replies and posts and putting my name on them. I deleted one this morning, a Bible verse, taken completely out of context. It is funny because I had seen this verse taken out of context on another forum, then it pops up here!

Here is something that some may not understand about these boards. When you post, your reply is stored on an administrative page. I can go there and delete threads or edit them. But the great thing is that after every post there is a number. When I click on this number, it shows me where the post maps to. It doesn't matter if you use a fake e-mail or not, I know exactly which server you use and often it will bring up lots of other posts made from this same computer. I don't always see the other posts, but I always see who it maps to. This morning, to find out who posted in my name, I clicked this number and there it was. The same person who had posted in my name before! I will not mention who they are as I have that much maturity, but for those who follow the forum closely, it should not be hard to guess.

This is becoming tedious, childish, and an embarrassment to this person. I would have thought that a homesteader would have more important things to do, honestly. I am a bit worried about this person as well. Please folks remember that this forum is just for fun!

I am at the point of closing this one down and moving to the back-up site. On it I can at least ban people and they won't be allowed to even see the board. These escalating incidents have me deeply concerned for this person, to tell you the truth. I think most rational people would just let it go, and I am not sure why they just don't do that???

I am probably opening this thread up to more awful posts, but I do want to tell all of you regulars to go to the back-up site and register because it will not be long before we move, if these incidents continue!

Also if a post seems unlike me,it probably isn't me...

It is said that "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery"..that is true when the imitation is honest. I think it is very sad that any person feels the need to cloak their ideas under another's what end? I read the post Melissa was refering to just a short time ago and said to myself, "hmm, Melissa needs a vacation" this what the imposter had in mind, to cast doubt upon Melissa? Shame on you, whomever you are. I will say a prayer for you today that you will realize that these "imposter" posts are not harmless. You have offended a good woman who spends a great deal of time trying her very best to present a family-oriented Godly forum. There is no one on this forum or any other who is without error in their lives; what makes a better person is when one realizes they were very wrong and makes amends. I hope that you will privately apologize to need to publicly acknowledge yourself, but please take as much time as you did formulating your imposter posting to be ashamed of it, and apologize to her. God bless.

Hi Lesley, I do need a vacation maybe, and even though the verse was directly from the Bible, without explanation it did seem very harsh. However taken in context it was perfectly understandable. This led me to believe the person has very little Bible experience or training!

I generally cite a passage then try to explain what it means to me. I just think it is so sad when someone delibertly tries to destroy something that could be so wonderful...

I think if we are patient, the gremlin will get bored and move along to pester someone else.

-- Rose (, March 03, 2002.

I hope you are right Rose, but this person is not just someone who happened upon this site and wants to have some fun. Thisperson is very deliberate in their actions, and is known to everyone here.

Oy vey! Here is some motherly advice, Melissa. I have lived long enough to realize that we will always have people like that! That person is miserable, lonely and dysfunctional. If you move the forum to a private location, he/she/it will have accomplished something negative in his/her/it's sick and twisted mind. Kind of sad, isn't it!! Maybe it would be better to ignore the behavior than acknowledging it. I think we all know each other well enough to recognize our individual styles. If there is a question about a post, just delete it! We'll understand.

-- Ardie/WI (, March 03, 2002.

Ardie the back up forum is not a private site, it is on MSN and is in their data base so that anyone who looks under headings like homesteading, country living, children, recipes etc... can access it. the only thing you have to do is register with a valid e-mail. When you post you have to show your e-mail, but I would be able to see it. The advantage is that I can ban someone form posting, which would relieve a lot of pressure from me. It is easy to say that we all recognize each others syles, but when someone is dong this to YOU, it can make one very upset!!!

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, March 03, 2002.

I meant to say you don't have to show your e-mail address. I am trying to ignore and delete this person, but it is hard to do all the time (delete that is)

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, March 03, 2002.

Am all registered! That's taken care of! And, Melissa, if you want, I'll send my Uncle Vinnie from Chicago to give that person an attitude adjustment! LOL!!!!

-- Ardie/WI (, March 03, 2002.

I'm registered also----I was receiveing spam & viruses & porm from posting here & at the food & crafts forum-- & barter forum--& freendom forum---had not received such junk----since posting on CS about two years ago----then a couple of months or so ago when I started posting here & on the other forums again---on "Luneset" I started getting all the garbage again-----don't know if I offended someone---or what----or if everyone is getting it---but was not getting it until I started posting over here again---- I enjoy this forum as well as the others I mentioned that I visit--- it is too bad someone has to ruin a good thing for people---- so----if you do go to the other forum----I'm registered under a nick name!

-- Sonda in Ks. (, March 03, 2002.

Melissa, I thought that there was an option to ban a certain person on the Lusenet forums. Maybe I'm mistaken? Anyway, sorry you had to deal with this. I have to say that I have gotten only ONE hate mail in all the time I've been posting on the Lusenet forums; it was in response to the Pets-a modest proposal thread. We do get porn type spam, but not often, we just delete it. I don't think it had anything to do with the Lusenet forums. I have seen a lot of other people, many of whom were less irritating than myself, say that they get hate mail, it makes me wonder why??? But I certainly don't feel deprived...

I think you are doing a fantastic job here. Please don't let this problem grind yo down. I have registered with the new forum. It seams to load up so slowly compared with this one. Hopefully we won't need it too often. Thanks for everything you do

-- Alison Homa (, March 03, 2002.

Wow, this is sad.........just when I get to really enjoying this forum. I wish you well in you move Melissa. I have never had much luck with the msn sites, so sad for me, and maybe fortunate for you? I won't be migrating. take care, diane

-- diane (, March 03, 2002.

All signed up and ready to go..I do not care for the MSN format either, but it is better than driving Melissa nutty! Lead on Dartangnian (never could spell that right)LOL.

-- lesley (, March 03, 2002.

Sonda, I've enjoyed your return back to lusenet. We all get that that spam. It is a hazzard of using your real address. I started getting some after signing up at msn, too.

With a hotmail account, you can set the junkmail filter to throw out all that stuff and you'll never even have to see it.

-- Laura (, March 03, 2002.

I just finished signing up. Now if I can just figure out how to get around and post correctly on the new forum. 8- Lusenet is so easy and I will miss that, but I understand the frustration Melissa is having. Yes, she can delete, but who needs the constant hassle or has time for it? Once I get the hang of using the new forum, it will be fine. I am very sorry to lose any forum members with the new change. Diane, I hope you change your mind and give it a try!

I am also sorry to see anyone, especially a so-called homesteader, resort to such sick behavior. I can't even get very angry, just am sad to see someone so miserable that they try to make the rest of the world equally so. They sure lose out on a lot of potential friends.

After I responded a couple days ago to a certain post (and I thought I responded nicely), I have been getting hit with spam and porno. Something that rarely happens to me as webtv strips nearly all that stuff. I can't get or send a virus either, so I'm immune there. I use webtv mainly because I can't sit at a computer, but it does have other advantages too! :)
