EOS 50E with 380EX - Aperture Problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi, I have a problem. I have an Eos 50E with 380EX Speedlite. So what I want to know is, how can I set the aperture When I work in P mode or full automatic mode the camera always sets the max. aperture and I cannot change it. When I go in AV mode I can set aperture but then the shutter speed is too long. Is there any possibility to work with sync.Speed(60,90 or 125)and set the aperture manually? I hope anyone can help me.Thanks

There are many places on the internet that you can read about how to use the EOS flash system. In summary:

Use M mode on your camera to set the shutter speed and the aperture to any value you desire. e.g. 1/60 and f/8.

Use P or Tv or Av only when there is sufficient ambient light, and the flash is only being used for fill.

This is the best resource available on the EOS flash system:
