If you make embellished gourd birdhouses, it is sometimes desirable to inscribe a straightline circle around the circumference of the gourd. This can be accomplished by stretching a fairly thick rubberband around the gourd, and marking a line with a pencil adjacent to the edge of the band.

This method also works for any type of odd shaped items.
