When purchasing meat, it isn't always less expensive to purchase meat boned-in. You have to not only consider price per pound, but price per pound in the package. How big a bone is it? How much fat or waste is there? Often, paying a bit more is really less expensive because you are only paying for what you actually consume - your not paying for bone and fat.

I checked out the bone-in chicken and found that half the weight was edible meat the other half waste.
