One down! Three to go!

All righty! Slinky gave birth this morning at 9:32 to a DOE!!!! Then at 9:45 a buck! Then at 10:02...another buck. They are all fine and eating. I caught them all and took cae of their first feeeding etal then took care of Slinky, and deided to put the boys back in with her as they have to be meat anyway. Sad, but the way it is. They are the CUTEST little things! Togg/Nubian mix and the doe has a nice whit splash on her head.

So I have three does due in the next four days...if they all behave;).

I do have a qestion tho', will the little bucklings stay with their mamma when I put her back in with the other girls? Or will they go trouncing off through the fence and get into trouble right away? Thank God for no troubles!!!

Congrats on the new babies. Aren't they so cute. Now as for following mom, they may, depending on the fence you have. Or mom may not leave them or go to the fence and blat.

I have super slamming elcetric. I also have cattle panel that I could put up, but they go right through that stuff when they are little as well. I was thinking that I may take them from her during the day and pen her in the shelter with them at night. Do you think this sounds reasonable? I had planned on keeping the kids in a chainlink dog kennel I have, but it is supposed to get nasty cold again and I thought they would be better off with their mom. Thanks for any thoughts!!!

Bishop babies? If I leave a buckling on the dam, they do get into mischeif, especially since we so seldom do it that nothing is baby proof in the milk barn. They sleep in the bunker feeders, they crawl under and over everything, and are so wild I have to send Jake out to catch them! My does may be dog tame, but they teach their children that I am the devil! When really little they can get through the cattle panels, but our dog usually heads them back into where they belong, their moms cry for them also. I just love the Nubian Togg bloodline at Beckys, they were originally a mistake, some mistake! Champions all the way down and now the first American Nubians from the bloodline! Hope I get to see you next month! Vicki

Yep, Bishop babies. They look more Nubian than Toggenburg. The little girl is inside in a playpen...she slep through the night! A reall blessing because I was exhaused with the three am. checks on Slinky.

I guess I will make a little corral for them in the barn and take them from her and just put her on the stand to feed them. That might work out the best as I just can't chance them driving her into a frenzy and having her try to challenge the electric to get to them. Kids will go through any little hole when they are too young to know the zap is supposed to keep them in one place.

Vicki, are you going to be done this weekend? If so, we could meet up during the week...let me know! I should be done by Monday here. Peaches is the last one due.

Done? I will just be getting started. But if Peaches has a doe kid, just call and I will drop everything to meet you up at Beckys. I am supposed to be their this weekend, Heath is being collected, but between does due, and the weather, I am not going. Then the next Saturday is the Bryan show, I will be show secretarying, we could meet then also. Or during the week since you probably want some disbudded, and it would be to hectic at the show, though my husband could eaisly do it for you over in a corner. Just keep in touch after Peaches kids! Dakota and Carolina are just wonderful, nice an growthy and eating like pigs! And I still don't know which one I can possibly part with :) Vicki
