Or a knitting needle (size 5 or smaller). Less chance of ripping the paper, too, as the knitting needle doesn't have a rough point (if you look at a ballpoint pen closely, it is a ball rolling around in a sleeve, and the sleeve can become rough over time. Hope this helps.
