Our first kid!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just had to let everyone know that we have our first kid. She was born on the coldest day of the year just as all the books and experts said. We went out this morning to find the fine little doe standing tall and bleating for her mom. We are just so excited. She is really beautiful and surprisingly sturdy for such a little thing. Of course, I'll worry all night hoping that she will be warm enough and be drinking enough, and all the other worries, but her mother seems to be doing a good job of taking care of her.

Thanks to all of you for your help with the goats in the past. Your help made this first baby possible and I truly appreciate it.

Wonderful!! I do believe in the weather thing too! We had a first time doe kid @ 5:00 pm this evening-a little buck-first kid so far this year and it's nearly 30 degrees here now-which is pretty cold for East Texas!! Good Luck!! susie

Aren't they just wonderful? I've got a pinto Angora doe that I bought in Texas last fall.. no tellin' when she was bred, but the ballpark date is late Feb/early March. Well, we've got a honkin' storm coming in tonight! Better get ready, just in case. Congrats, debra in nm
