Peach trees

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

We just moved here and have 2 peach trees. don't know how old. I do know that every year they set lots of fruit, then the fruit rots. Its shrivels and turns brown. Is there any hope for these trees? Is there an organic way of treating them? Should we cut them down for firewood?

If the fruit is shriveling while it is still small, this may be a pollination problem. Are there any bees in the neighborhood? If this is the problem, you may be able to do some pollenating with a brush, if the trees are not just too big.

Tell me, have you ever seed brown rot? Do you live in one of the states on the west coast? You might take this question down to the extension agent if you do.
