WEIGHT LIFTING TRAINING

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Swimming : One Thread

I am swimming in France particularly focused in the sprint 50 and 100 m free and fly. I am surfing in your web site regularly from France and I would like to know where to find weight lifting training (dried-land trainings) programs for sprinters, unless you have already this kind of workouts in your data base. I thank you very much in advance for your support and I look forwards to reading from you soon, Regards,

Olivier

I have been weight training for the sprint 50 and 100 free as well as the 100 breast stroke. After several weeks of training i could feel a difference about how i moved in the pool. my muscles did not have to work as hard to do the movements that i could do before. what i mean is that the muscle movement was easier,my technique did not nesscarily become better because of this. I did a base training covering the whole body in two training days, doing the cyle two times a week. the first phase was every excercise(excluding abdominals) 2*20 repititions. this gave me a feel for the weights as well as endurance. the next phase was geared toward building more strength, not mass. i did 2*12 repitions. the last phase was explosive/strength training. this is what really helped the sprints. i did 1 set of 12 1 set of 10 1 set of 8. after these cycles i repeated and am now on the 3 time around on the whole thing. on the off days i did some stretching with dips and pullups in the mixture. if you have any more questions about what excercises i did and so forth, write me an email at chriogenix@hotmail.com

Good luck to those who read this, Benny
