Ben Franklin, whom invented so many things that we would be without if it was not for him, held how many patents?

Ben Franklin valued innovation over profits--in 1742 he not only published the details of his newly conceived Franklin Stove, but refused a patent on it on the principle that "as we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours; and this we should do freely and generously."

Correct, the answer is "0"

Since Mitch has left the building temporarily, he has made available to me a limited number of stumpers and answers to keep you all busy while he is gone.

Question #2: Where in the world is the highest tidal change?

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, February 25, 2002.

the ocean

-- Stan (, February 25, 2002.

Uh,,,well yes, but he had a specific place for the answer!

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, February 25, 2002.

Either the coast of Maine or Nova Scotia.

-- Judi (, February 25, 2002.

It is in Canada...

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (, February 25, 2002.

I still say the ocean is where the hiest tide is located,,, would liek to know where your getting YOUR information from

-- Stan (, February 25, 2002.

Mitch sent me an e-mail with a list of questions and answers. I am simply posting them in the order he gave them to me, and am just assuming he has researched it.

I always thought the tide was measured when it actually hits land, but I have no specific knowledge about it and have no time to research it myself.

He gave me as an answer a specific place, in Canada. I am just posting it as a favor to those who enjoy playing along. I by no means guarantee the answer is correct, and I certainly am not going to argue the point or lose any sleep over it!!

So if you say the tide is highest in the ocean, sure I agree... But it is somewhere in the ocean isn't it? So make a stab at it!!!!

the wet part

-- Stan (, February 25, 2002.

Bay of Fundy, Canada

-- Bob in WI (, February 25, 2002.

Correct Bob, that is the answer Mitch left.

Stan, you are just so much fun...
