How can I tell if my Silver Laced Wyandott hen is show quality? I have no clue if her parents were show stock or not. (Its a long story of how we got her)

Compare your bird to the discription in the poultry standards book. Your library should have one, be able to borrow one from another library or check with your local 4H office for a copy.

Heather, post your question on www.poultryconnection.com and click on The Exhibition Forum. Some one there can help you find out where and when your local shows are and who in your area raises SLW too. Also the LINKS on that forum will lead you to photos of this breed for comparison. Have fun, LQ

We have silver-laced wyandottes. the judge got us at the fact of the marking of each feather. Each feather on the chickens back has to be white with a black edge. No little flecks of black in the center of each feather. Round body shape and of course a rose comb. Flat to the head and not with a lot of little spurs sticking up. Also a straight back toe. These are little things that you may miss on your own. good luck joany
