Source for wide mouth thermos

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I was reading the thread on packing lunches with great interest. I had packed lunches for years with my kids, and thought I had a respite from that when they entered jr. high and high school.

However, my husband changed jobs and must now take a lunch every day (from now on, no end in sight). He is easy to please, but it seems to get so repetitive.

I would like to send hime left-overs or soup or chili in a wide mouth thermos, but cannot find one. I checked WalMart, both in the regular thermos/lunch packing dept. and in sporting goods. Can anyone help me with other suggestions on where to look. We are in a small town, but do travel to larger ones from time to time. Thanks all!

Connie, I found several at garage sales last spring priced anywhere from 25 cents for the 1 cup size to 2.00 for the larger ones. Is there a Target near you? I don't know if the local livestock supply carries them, but it might be worth a check.

We found a 24 oz wide mouth Stanley Alladin at Wal-Mart in Maryland, in the Sporting Goods Dept.

Try some of the larger sporting goods stores, or pharmacies like Rite- Aid, Walgreens, Long's, etc.

These are seasonal. You will find them in Aug and Sept at the beginning of the school year and then they disappear for the rest of the year. I stock up at that time.
