What takes them so long!!!!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I posted a short while back that my husband is being chased by Addleshaw & Booth on behalf of the Halifax for a shortfall of 30k on his flat from about 8 or 9 years ago. I know that the 6 yr rule thing may apply so we are trying to get as much info as possible before finding out wheer we stand. Husband wrote them a letter (not making any claim to the debt) basically asking them who they were, how do we know their claim is genuine and proof for the amount of the claim.

It has now been 3 weeks and we havent heard a thing. We have since found out about SARNs and want to slap one of them onto them if they dont send us enough information.

Also , we got a copy of husbands credit file a few months ago and the debt has been removed from it!!!

Apparently unnecessary delays like this are very common - they love to play cat and mouse! You can easily get the ball rolling by sending them a follow-up letter by Special Delivery (only £3.60). Just say you note they have not replied to your previous letter (enclose a copy), and please could they now give the matter their urgent attention.

Look at it this way: if it ever comes to court it will look extremely bad for them if they are not treating this with an appropriate level of seriousness. By writing a letter now, you are creating written evidence of their incompetence which you can produce in court. Well worth £3.60!

Good luck
