Mixing Corid Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

I haven't treated for cocci before, but thought I'd start doing it this season. I got my Corid(Amprolium), a 20% soluble powder coccidiostat, read the instructions, and now am terribly confused. I have a 10 oz package, and I do not want to treat 100 gallons!! Can anyone please give me a clue of how to mix this and how much to give to kid goats?(ranging from 22-33 pounds) I did look at pipevet, but if the info is there, I didn't find it, or still don't get it. If someone can help me figure this out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I only mix the 4 ounce packet, so perhaps you could either mix it all together times 2.5 or just take it to your pharmacist and have hime weight it out into 4 ounces for you?

Anyway I use a glass mason jar and only use a plastic lid. Put 1 cup of boiled and cooled water into the jar, and pour in 4 ounces of the Corid. Shake well before each use. The dosage then is 2cc per 25 pounds, by mouth for 5 days. 4cc per 50 pounds, 8cc per 100 pounds etc. Repeat every 21 days for 5 days, until weaned and eating. This mixes easily into their Lambar or bottles, if you have to drench them individually then you can pull of 2cc in a 6cc syringe, then pull up 4 more cc's of kero syrup, pancake syrup, molassas etc. Vicki

Thanks, Vicki, this is exactly the information I need! (I wanted the four ounce package, but CaprineSupply no longer carries it.)
