Does anyone out there have any experience with using a catalytic gas heater(no flame..just a glowing wire screen.)

We have a catalytic heater in our RV and we love it. It is important to make sure it is properly vented but in our unit this is not a problem. They are easy to operate and fuel effecient. The only thing we had to change with ours, was relocate it. Our little dog kept leaning against it and his hair start smoking. He was never burnt but the hair burning wasn't pleasant nor safe we felt.

I have used a small catalytic heater made by Coleman as an engine heater in my planes. I also used one to heat Skidoo engines when camped out at -40 degrees in the Arctic. I found them very effective for heating small spaces, however, there have been cases of folks using them in campers, tents etc. with poor ventilation and causing the users to suffocate. As the previous poster said, make sure they are well ventilated. They also put off a considerable amount of moisture.
