I recently acquired the above lens, but found that the shift axis and the tilt axis were at 90 degrees from one another. I understand that a photo technician can modify the lens so that the shift and tilt are in the same plane. Does anybody know how to do this? I suspect one just has to remove 4 screws and rotate 90 degrees, but would like to gain the benefit of someone elses experience before I try it. I do have very high quality philips head screwdrivers in order to make the modifications. Thank you. Dennis

I tried this modification several years ago, but have since traded the lens for one in better condition, so I don't have it here in front of me, so I don't remember which direction I turned it. It was simple to do, as you described, but be aware that the screws aren't Phillips head - the are "cross-point", and a Phillips driver can damage the screw heads.

Thank you Mr. Arnold, Your answer has helped confirm my suspicions, that fools leap in where angels dare not tread. Hopefully, a few more answers will resolve this problem. I am stunned that Canon ever put the two axis orthogonal to each other, I can't fathom what they were thinking of. Thanks. Dennis
