Very simple dessert - Fruit Cobbler : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

Warning: This dessert is no were near low-calorie!

1 cup sugar

1 cup sifted flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

2/3 cup milk

1/2 cup butter melted in a 13 x 13 inch baking dish

3 or 4 cups of any kind of fruit.

Melt butter in dish while mixing all the other ingredients except fruit. Pour batter into hot dish, add fruit on top. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 45 minutes.

This is the simpliest dessert and my grandmother used to make mine with cherries, my cousin's with apples and my brother's with strawberries. All delicious. Can be made with frozen fruit, fresh fruit or even canned pie filling. Peach is also extra delicious. To make it fancy, add whipped topping on each serving. It's even good cold!

Wishing you enough.

My grandma used to call it "Lazy Woman's Cobbler", and she used a cup, a cup, a cup (flour, sugar, milk), and the stick of melted butter (along with the baking powder).

I made it with fresh mixed berries for a family cookout (blueberries, strawberries and raspberries), and it was delicious!

here one that can be low calorie and almost no fat! One Angel Food Cake One box Americana Custard or any flavor pudding One large box Jello any flavor, for fewer calories use sugar free Strawberries or any fruit, as much as you like, I use a quart or 1 bag frozen Bananas-the more the merrier, or any other fruit you enjoy Cool whip or any kind topping, if watching diet use no fat type

Prepare custard according to directions, set aside till soft set. Break up Angel food cake into bite size pieces and arrange in 13x9 pan Prepare Jello according to directions and pour directly over angel food cake so it soaks into it, add sliced strawberries on top of this and put in fridge to set. When set pour and spread custard on top, add sliced bananas on top of custard and spread Cool Whip over bananas. Refrigerate a few hours and enjoy. Using no fat or 2% milk in custard lowers fat content. Be creative and use any flavors jello, pudding and fruit. This was an american version of Scotish Triffle. Lady fingers or Twinkies can be used in place of the angel food cake, but if you really want to lower fat and calories the angel food cake is best.
