Can someone new join you?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread
I was doing some research regarding livestock and stumbled across this site. I was overwhelmed by the amount of interesting topics! My name is Andrea Parrish and I live in Wisconsin. My husband and I are planning on purchasing some acreage furthur north into the state within the next few years. We hope to be able to run a few head of cattle, run several acres of vegetables for sale, create a fish farm, and so much more. I would be so greatful for correspondance with people who are using their land to supplement their income and provide them the means to live more independently. I am an avid gardener, with a wealth of info to share; cook, can, freeze and dehydrate most anything; am extremely knowledgeable about home improvement, and so much more. Would appreciate picking your brain for insight in exchange for anything I can offer in return!

Drag up a chair, this forum orentates towards wholesomeness and is pretty tame. Click on lusenet to view the other forums, most are reasonable, some are raw. You will find old answers and questions at the bottom of the question page.

Welcome, Andrea. This is indeed a lovely forum with a lot of interesting topics. I for one will certainly appreciate anyone with gardening experience! I've given up on gardening at present (I'm more animal oriented) but hope to start in with a good sized garden again next year when I have more time available. I live in central Oregon, where we have a whole 90 days (in a good year) of growing season, and it can and will freeze any night of the year. So hopefully my bad gardening isn't ALL me! Maybe I can learn to work with this climate yet.
I'm glad to have you join us.

Hi Andrea, That's my sister's name too. We lived in Wisconsin for 2 years about 13 years ago. I finally put my foot down and told my husband that I was going home to momma cuz I couldn't stand the cold. He followed :) I don't know how y'all can stand it. It actually Snowed here once this year 3" and it stayed for 24hrs!!! It was a BLIZZARD!!
