EOS 3000N

I was wondering if anyone can shed any light onto this body. I have done a lot of research on the Rebel G and 2000, but was wondering if anyone can tell me of their experiences with this body pros' and cons'. This would be my first SLR and I want it to basically experiment in photography, mostly outdoor but also for family photography too. I would like to experiment with fairly close up photography without it coming out all blurred like it does with my point and shoot.... I realise I will need to pick up lenses also but what would be the best body for my needs? I have enjoyed taking b/w pictures with my point and shoot of the frozen lakes and rocks, bridges etc near my home and will continue to do the same with an SLR.

Judging from the pictures and the specifications, the EOS 3000N looks like it is a re-badged Rebel G, which was the same as the EOS 500N. When The EOS 300/Rebel 2000 was introduced the EOS 500N/Rebel G was discontinued. Then the EOS 3000N shows up looking like someone just reopened the old assembly line & changed the name.

The EOS 300/Rebel 2000 is a nicer camera in most respects, other than battery size/life, but either would do what you want. The EOS 30/Elan 7 is easier to operate, has more features and offers more control, but it does cost more.

I bought a rebel 2000 a couple of months ago. I take pictures of family only. I take close ups of my two boys where they fill up the entire photo- no blurriness. That is the main reason I bought a SLR. All of my close ups with my point and shoot would be blurry and/or way off center. I love my rebel. It's really easy to use in full auto, except it makes better pictures. Also, the portrait mode makes great close ups. Also, I replaced the 28-80 with a canon 28- 105 lens. i like the new lens much better.
