1010 Numbers in Maine

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I talked to aq friend of mine in Blue Hill recently and asked if they used 1010 long distance numbers, they had never heard of them. Is there anybody out there using them for in-state call and out of state calls? what are they. Thanx

No need to contact the provider. Its easy, dial 10-10-811 +1 + area code+ number. Its 5 cents a minute anywhere in the US and will show up on your regular phone bill after a couple of months. Only catch, you must talk at least 10 minutes to get that rate or it is the regular rates. Customer service is 1-800-544-1510. I'm happy with it and I always seem to talk more than 10 minutes to my family.

Wait a minute!! We do not have any 10-10 access in Arkansas. Daughter was here for Christmas, called home using 10-10, thinking everyone had it. We got a bill later charging us $4.00 a minute for the calls! We have AT&T long distance, the 10-10 was picked up by MCI, and MCI sent the bill. Whether you have 10-10 ability seems to depend solely on whether your in-state company (alltel in our case) allows it. ps, they did drop the extra charges from the bill, thank goodness.

Best long distance is: www.onesuite.com

2.9 cents/minute. No other fees, call state to atate or instate. Fees are paid up front by credit card. You receive no bill, unless you go online to find your bill. By doing it this way you also avoid the sales tax, excise tax, and the Clinton connectivity fee. Their rates for overseas are great also. No, I do not work for them, just trying to save you a buck or two. Check it out I know you will be happy ,everyone I have told is glad they switched.

I'm in the next town over from Blue Hill and we use the 10 10 numbers all the time. Mostly use 10 10 321 or 10 10 220. Never heard of the 811 one! We use them for out of state calls and just use Verizon for in state.

Yep 10-10-811 is the best i have found and we use it here in Jacksonville Arkansas have for several years . Kate had all the good and bad info right but also she should have mentioned that this one also has the same rate in state and out of state calls some don't they charge real high rates in state.also strangely enough we use the 10-10-811 to call Maine all the time and vice versa so i know if works i Mexico Maine at least..... No wise comments about the Damn Yankee now i get it enough at work

I can't use the 10-10-811 here in Northern WI, but my Mom can in Southern WI! I use the 10-10-220 here in Northern WI.

I live in central Maine area and because of the phone company we have we can't use 1010 either. I think in parts of the state that have a larger phone company you can. But we have a small local type company and don't have all the advantages the larger companies have.
