Rebel 2000 (defective) if you buy from broadway cameras

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Dear Members

I would like to inform all the members who are in vancouver, BC area not to buy camera from Broadway Camera, they deal with defective cameras. My sister bought a Rebel 2000 camera from them, on the very first day it had some flash problem. the same story i had from one person in coquitlam who was made fool by sales rep named "henery" in broadway camera. I will suggest Kerisdale camera is a good shop. I have already made a compliant to canon to cancel their dealership and i have hired a lawyer to file a case in smal scale court to get my refund .

Thanks John Brown

Thanks for the alert--it's always good to know where the crooks are so we can avoid them.

I hope there is more to this story than you bought a defective camera and you're out for vengeance. Did you try to return it and get a replacement? Did they give you the run around and send you packing? I find most situations may be solved with a smile and diplomacy. Even dealers with crappy customer service exchange defective merchandise if you ask. If you paid with a charge card and the dealer refuses to make good, you can contact your card company and reverse the charges (I had to with Abe's of Maine). Don't waste your time with a lawyer! His hourly fee will soon exceed the value of the gear.

Every dealer sells defective gear once in a while, but its not their fault! They can't open every box and make sure every feature works! They'd have to charge a lot more due to additional staffing. Besides, some turkey would complain their camera had been "used" or fingered.

I visited 6 times at the store and every time they made me fool by saying that you do not have photographic skills and i had to go for training and all that. I know one person in coquitlam who left the camera with them for repair and after waiting 2 months he had the same problem. I have alraedy talked with Canon Compliant office and they have received lots of compliant agianst broadway camera and now they are serious. My appeal through lawyer will save all other persons who live in vancouver and deal with broadway cameras.

The danger of what you have done here is that should you loose your case against them, they will have a very strong case against you for defamation of character.

Eh, just gather everyone who doesn't like them together and march around in front of their store.
