how to get good weld

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

we are doing nickel to nickel spot welding so i want to know the parameters like weld current and weldtime and squeeze time and hold time how to use them in combinations please explain thank you rashmi

The parameters you can use depend on the part you need to weld and the kind of machine you are using. The best you can do is perform an experiment where you set one of the paramters and seal one part by one modifing the other parameters. The mian parameters that affect the seal quality are the Force (or pressure) and the voltage (or percentage heat). For example, I work in a proccess where we seal nickel to nickel, for all different sizes we use squeeze time 60 ms and hold time 60-90, the pressure goes from 40 to 100 PSI and voltage from 280 to 570 depending on the size of the part. Current goes from 47 KA to 85 KA A destructive analisis will provide you an idea of the result of the changes in the different parameters
