Did ACL run any passenger trains through Gainesville, Fl. during the late 1950s? What type of motive power/equipment was used? Did ACL use any RPO cars in north Fl.? Thanks.

In addition to FP-7'S,trains #37 and 38 used SCL(ex-ACL) SDP-35#1900 as motive power.

Two pairs of trains ran through Gainesville during the late 1950s, the St. Petersburg section of the Champion plus a pair of night local trains between Jacksonville and St. Petersburg. The Champion apparently used a single E unit and had an express car or two plus about half a dozen lightweight coaches and sleepers. The night locals appear to have usually had one or two FP7s, several express cars and an RPO, and a couple of coaches, all heavyweight.
