Valentine's Day Surprise

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

This was a fun surprise for my husband one Valentine's Day. He used to commute to work via the train and leave his car parked in the train parking lot. My daughter and I got several helium filled red balloons and left one in his car with a note that said "Go to the drug store and ask if there are any messages for you." When he got to the drug store there was another balloon with a card and a giant Hersey's kiss attached and another note that said "Go to(our local liquior store) and ask if there are any messages for you." When he got there he found another balloon, a bottle of wine and note saying go to (our favorite restaurant) and ask if there are any messages for you." He finally got to the restaurant and found us waiting with another balloon and a nice Valentine's Day dinner.

It didn't cost much and took very little time to set this up with the three places he went. The people in the stores were pleased to be part of a surprise and my daughter and I followed him around in my car to each stop and got to watch his reaction as he came out of each place and he never knew we were there. We still talk about how clever our Valentine's Day surprise was.

Wishing you enough.

Dianne-----reminds me of when we owned a motel----I had a lady call & reserve the honeymoon suite----she asked if she could come /as soon as my maid service was through cleaning the room & put a few things in the room----I told her yes--- When she arrived she had a tape player-(romantic music)---flowers & tons of ballons/ to blow up!!!! The suite was three rooms----she had the bright idea /that she would blow up ballons & fill the suite with ballons!!!

Well to make a long story short-----when my cleaning girls got through with ALL their cleaning /we helped her blow up ballons----we huffed & puffed & did everything to blow up tons of ballons----- needless to say /we didn't fill up 3 rooms with ballons---but only one---I put nice candles in the other rooms for her & and helped her get it all set up---very romantic---& nice--

"Her valentine", was a big construction worker who was a "regular" with us at the motel----when he came in from work that night ---I caught him & told him /there was a problem with his normal room/ he stayed in & I gave him a key to the honeymoon suite----then I called the room really quick /to tell her---HE WAS headed her way!!!

Well I wish I couuld have seen the look on his face /as I was in the lobby----but the guys who worked with him---said /he was really GOT!!!!

I think he really thought it was neat---but the construction worker in him would never admit it----ha!

he said later-----you are a "darn idot"---you even helped her do all that---- I told him--yes /but it would be on "HIS BILL" the end of the week! ha!!

Thanks for the memories----that couple has three children now & I still get a Christmas card from them every year----we still tease about that Valentines day the whole motel----helped them celebrate--- Sonda in Ks.
