Bill Clinton, Gary Hart, and Ted Kennedy have formed a new law firm to promote the Liberal point of view.

"the Patriots set a wonderful example,"

Yeah, it's too bad they had to rely on cheating and bad calls during the playoffs to get there, it would have been nice if the best team actually won for a change.

Capn, the Ted's words are at the bottom of the link. He actually read them into the Congressional Record.

On the record

Massachusetts senator Edward M. Kennedy read a statement into the Congressional Record yesterday celebrating the Patriots' first title in the franchise's 42-year history. ''At a time when our entire country is banding together and facing down individualism, the Patriots set a wonderful example, showing us all what is possible when we work together, believe in each other, and sacrifice for the greater good,'' said Kennedy.

Indeed JP. Glaring glimpse at the soul of a socialist at perhaps an unguarded unsober moment. Joe Sr's ghost must roil at the dynasty he bought.

I never thought I'd defend Ted Kennedy, but I doubt if he meant to use the word "individualism" in the sense that his attackers imply. If you've listened to Kennedy speak extemporaneously in public, he sometimes stumbles. (Almost as much as Bush does.[g])

In the context of what he said, I think he was referring to those who deliberately thumb their nose at the greater good and pursue purely selfish and corporately destructive individual behavior.

Now, you can disagree with that -- I certainly think there's room to argue there myself -- but I doubt if Ted Kennedy really opposes the rights of the individual, not being a strong support of Gay Rights (just to name one example).

I don't think it was a typical adhoc, alcoholic Kennedyism. It was scripted by his handlers. It was read into the CR.

No doubt ne was trying to make the point that the Patriot's Super Bowl victory was an fine example of teamwork. I have no problem with that. He just needs new speechwriters.

"Facing down individualism"? Come on.

Sometimes stumbles? New speechwriters? You two are too kind. Will admit the guy's been for some time a sotted mannequin of the DNC but check the bold in the original post. What entire country is banding together and facing down individualism? Mao's dead. Pol Pot is dead and Mr Kim is on the short list. It is what it is fellas---a rare unguarded glimpse. Write him off if you wish but don't write off the sentiment.
